Connect with other carers through In Person Peer Support groups!

Carer Gateway currently run 40 IPPS groups across Victoria. Over the next 12 months we are looking at starting more groups. As a result of carer feedback these will seek to include groups for specific languages; LGBTIQA+; First Nations; Young Carers; Over 65’s; Mental Health and more. Please keep your eyes out for the next Connections in Care newsletter which will provide further details.
Two new groups that are beginning this November are:
Carer Connect and Relax Group in Mt Martha
Carers for Unique Minds Group Online
Carer Connect and Relax group
This is a peer support group for carers to meet in person, connect, share and relax in a friendly and safe community cafe.

Who can attend? Anyone who is a carer* that is registered with Care Gateway
How often does the group run? The group will commence on November 15th and run fortnightly until December 2023 and move to monthly in 2024.

Carers for Unique Minds group
Carers for Unique Minds is a peer support group for carers supporting a loved one who has a unique way of seeing and experiencing the world. This can include, but is not limited to, the carers of people who are autistic, living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), an intellectual disability, attention deficit disorder (ADD), Down Syndrome and/or chromosomal disorder.
Location: Online via Zoom
Who can attend? Carers* of people who are neurodivergent or living with a neurological disorder who are registered with Carer Gateway.
How often does the group run? The group will commence on November 13th and run fortnightly until December 2023 and move to monthly in 2024.

IPPS groups provide an opportunity to meet other people that are in similar caring roles, explore common issues and concerns and share ideas for managing caring challenges.
