A new lifestyle program is supporting people experiencing mental health issues to take control of their physical health.
Healthy Steps is a tailored approach that addresses lifestyle factors like physical activity, diet and smoking. It supports people to make positive changes that can prevent or manage obesity, cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reports that coronary heart disease and lung cancer are currently the leading causes of death in Hume.
Our first participants reported positive changes at the end of the program, with many commenting they are more conscious about their food choices.
At the end of the program, participants can continue on their health and wellbeing journey with support from our community nurse, dietitian, exercise physiologist, restorative yoga and other group programs.
