Merri Health celebrates Carers Week 2022

National Carers Week, held in October 2022, was a time to recognise and celebrate the 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend.

To support and honour the hardworking carers of Victoria we launched our first-ever podcast The Care Mosaic and new magazine The Caring Way!

We also hosted a range of events including:

  • Luna Park Fun Day – we joined 550 carers, The Hon. Tim Bull, Shadow Minister for Disability and Carers Victoria to launch Carers Week 2022. The day was filled with fun, laughter and a much-needed break for carers, with free coffee, rides, face painting + more.
  • Koorie Carers Lunch – over 40 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers celebrated with an afternoon of music, dancing and food with special entertainment from The Retros.
  • Lunch and Wellbeing Workshop – to finish Carers Week with a bang, carers were able to enjoy live caricature drawings, free massages, diffuser making workshops, mindfulness colouring and outdoor games
