Merri Health have just donated five boxes of books and toys to St Kilda Mums - a volunteer-run organisation that support families by collecting, sorting and redistributing essential nursery equipment, clothing, books and toys for babies and school age children.

Due to the extended lockdowns, St Kilda Mums are experiencing a shortage of donated items due to government restrictions. Their stock levels are depleting, however the need in the community is growing. Gill, partnerships manager, says,

"We greatly appreciate the books donated by Merri Health which will ensure that our Book Nook team can keep up with the demand for book packs."

St Kilda Mums is a vital service which works with and supports existing social services and maternal and child health nurses.

"Our goal is to ensure children and families are happy, healthy and safe. This is possible when families can provide their children with the best possible foundation in life. We receive requests from maternal and child health nurses and social workers on behalf of families and then aim to meet or exceed each request.

We’re committed to being volunteer-powered and rehoming quality pre-loved goods to ensure our service is highly cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable."
