Merri Central's compost journey

Our Merri Health Pentridge site began composting left over food in June 2019. 

We're currently diverting approximately 10 kilograms a week of food waste from landfill and into the Pentridge Community Garden which is also used by the residents in the Pentridge apartment complex.

Our compost is then used to fertilise the veggie gardens within the garden.

This weight equals our community nurse Catherine's Jack Russell named Jimmy (pictured above) who has since become our official compost mascot!
