Mackillop Family Services parent support groups

Earlier on this month we were kindly invited to attend Mackillop Family Services Wyndham Parent Support Group in Werribee.
Two community engagement staff from our Carer Services program spoke to the group about the services available through the Carer Gateway. Some of the carers in attendance were already engaged with the Carer Gateway, and for others, it was their first time hearing of the work we do.
The group aims to bring together parents and carers of a child with a disability or developmental delay aged 0 – 18 years. The group also gives attendees a chance to share experiences and support one another through their journey - a fantastic way to connect with likeminded carers who understand the caring role.
The Strengthening Parents Support Program consists of a number of groups across the west and some groups are run online. Please see below for more information about these groups.
Wyndham Parent Support Group: for families living in the Wyndham area.
When: 10am – 12pm, first Monday of the month
Where: Quantin Binnah Community Centre, 61 Thames Blvd, Werribee

Mandarin Parent Support Group: a parent support group for Mandarin speaking families with children with a disability.
When: 10.30am – 12pm, first Thursday of the Month
Where: Online via Zoom

Vietnamese Families Special Needs Group: a vibrant support group for carers of children with a disability living in the west.
When: 10am – 12pm every Thursdays (except school holidays)

Mackillop School (Maidstone) Parent Support Group: a newly formed support group for carers of children who attend the MacKillop School in Maidstone.
When: 10 - 11am, third Thursday of each month

Yarraville Special Developmental School Group: for carers of children who attend Yarraville SDS.

Melton Parent Support Group: for families living in the Melton area.
