Merri Health partnered with Little Dreamers, Carer Gateway and Carers Victoria to host the Young Carers Festival in June, at the Australian Sports Museum, MCG.

The event attracted around 150 people and gave young carers the opportunity to meet and connect with other young carers and their families.

“Loved everything about the festival, my child raved about it on the way home and all weekend! We both loved the magician, music, food, stalls, venue -interaction, meeting others...it was excellent,” festival participant.

There festival featured a range of fun activities including:

  • three amazing performances from the winners of Little Dreamers Young Carer Talent Show: Chloe Walton (singing); James Carrol (beatboxing) & Cara Egry (singing and guitar)
  • stalls of young carer services with free goodies and information about support available to families
  • entertainment by a magician Anthony De Masi and musical comedy by Cousin Tara
  • face painting
  • interactive exhibitions

The festival was a special way to celebrate and recognise the incredible work young carers do every day.
