If you are a carer living in the northern metropolitan region of Melbourne and care for a person who is living with dementia this is a day for both of you. Get creative together!

Montsalvat was established in 1934 and is Australia’s oldest continuously active artists’ community. It is a place where art in all its forms is made, taught and celebrated in exhibitions, festivals, and workshops. This day supports previous sessions CarerLinks North has run around meaningful engagement and using arts based activities. Expect to get a little messy (wearing an old shirt over clothing is recommended) as you bring out your creativity. We will do both hand building and also use the pottery wheel. Carers can either work on their own pieces or  support the person you care for as needed. Finished clay pieces will be left to be fired in the kiln and collected in approximately 3 weeks time.

People must wear comfortable/appropriate footwear as the grounds of Montsalvat are sloping, grassed and paved areas. The Clay Talk building is down a small slope and we can park right outside but the toilets are about 80 metres from the ClayTalk building. People will need to be able to manage this distance.

RSVP

RSVPs are essential by Tuesday 25 February 2020.
In-home respite and/or a contribution towards the cost of transport may be available upon request when you RSVP.

Carers will need to make their own way to Montsalvat to meet at the ClayTalk building by 10.00am. There is a café onsite where we will have lunch. Please let us know if you are able to stay on for lunch so that we can make a group reservation.
