Carer Gateway at the Melbourne Zoo

Carer Gateway was a major sponsor of the Carers Victoria Family Day at the Melbourne Zoo in March. Over 400 carers and their families enjoyed face-painting, popcorn, lunch and of course the Zoo! It was a wonderful opportunity for us to talk to carers and their families, particularly Young Carers who had not thought of themselves as being in that role before.

We found that a lot of the carers hadn’t heard of Carer Gateway, so it was great helping to open the door and introduce them to the opportunities and support they can gain by contacting Carer Gateway.

We are looking forward to future events where we can engage with more carers and get the word out, while also providing many more fun experiences for families to have some much-needed respite.
