Education program to prevent family violence and violence against women.

This program has ended.

What was it?

Speak Up, Speak Out was a pilot initiative between The Long Walk Trust and Merri Health, funded by the Victorian State Government through the Aboriginal Family Violence Primary Prevention Fund in 2019.

Two programs were delivered between Term 2, 2019 and Term 4, 2019 that engaged a total of 26 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people aged 9-12 years.

The project delivered education and support for young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged 9-12, to build their understanding of healthy, supportive and safe relationships.

Evaluation data collected from the two programs showed improvements in knowledge, confidence and understanding around respectful relationships, gender equity and upstander actions. You can see what participants learned about in this video.
